Ribbit! Hop! Splash! Giggle, Giggle, Giggle….{Kutztown Child Photographer}

Ribbit, HOP! Splash! Giggle, giggle, giggle….

These were the sounds that bounced off the brick walls of Kutztown University on a golden and crisp Sunday night

as I frolicked through the university’s campus with my friends Emily and Maddy.

We started out being frogs.

I just want you all to know that I am very good at being a frog. (no photo proof of this though…trust me!)

We giggled. A lot.

The girls and I had some silly conversations and I got to see their inner beauty.

My heart pounds a bit harder each time I get the ‘Let’s do new pictures!’ email from their Mom.

Because I fall deeper in love with both of them each time I photograph them.

After being frogs, we decided to go climb some stairs and strike some poses.

Finally, I had a surprise up my sleeve for the girls….

Splashing in a fountain!!!

They were thrilled.

Maddy couldn’t believe her eyes.

Emily loved getting her toes wet.

I was in my glory too…bare feet, giggles and my camera…perfect!

(Major props to their Mommy and Daddy for being so agreeable to my crazy ideas!)

Until next time my friends, you two hold a special piece of my heart…..forever,

Cheese Jane

Dear China Mom {Pennsylvania Child Photographer}

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Dear China Mom,

She has these two dimples when she smiles, tucked into the lower quadrants of her cheeks. If you aren’t looking too closely, you might miss them, only because her smile takes over her face. I often wonder about those dimples, if she had them at three weeks old, when you wrapped her up in a blanket and left her in the wee hours of the morning. Did you ever get to see them?

     She turns seven today.

7! Seriously?

The weeks before her birthday are usually rough for me. I think of you often, my heart pulling towards yours, knowing you are thinking about her and wondering if she is ok, alive even, and I ache for that. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t wish I could just pull you close, wrap you in a hug and whisper into your ear…

“She is ok. In fact, she is amazing. We could never thank you enough for bringing her into this world.”

She has one of the strongest spirits I have ever seen. She’s full of love and fire.

She has a death look that could take out an army in one shot. She uses it well.

She is fiercely intelligent, yet we often wonder if her head is full of air.

And that mass on her back that probably secured your decision to relinquish her?

It’s gone.

And she can walk, run, jump, skip, tackle and squeeze our guts out.

She’s an amazing athlete in fact. Softball is her game, slugger is her name.

You have so much to be proud of.

I pray for you. I pray you know that she’s ok.

She’s more than ok. She’s loved, protected, and adored.

She was the piece of the puzzle that was missing in our family.

Our perfect fit.

How could we ever thank you for loving her enough to let her go?

Your strength astonishes me.

Yet, it doesn’t, because she must get her strength from both of us.

So, I know you agree with me as I say:

Happy Birthday Sweet Madeline Jane Xia Ammon.

You are so loved, from both sides of the world.

~Jane

The Power of Two {Kutztown, PA Child Photographer}

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

The other night I needed to go out an location scout in Kutztown, up at Kutztown University,  (my alma mater, GO KU BEARS!)

so I grabbed my son Connor and said

“Let’s go explore!”

Connor is always up for a new adventure, so he hopped in the van with me, full of questions…

As we were driving and talking and giggling as the crisp spring air whipped through the van, that feeling started in the pit of my stomach and swelled it’s way up to my throat and pushed it’s way into my tear ducts and slowly dripped down my face.

You know that feeling I am talking about? The ‘how did I get so damn lucky to have such an awesome kid?’ feeling…

Then it hit me.

We were alone, just the two of us.

Mama and Son.

And I paused, took a deep breath and let out a long happy sigh as I wiped away my joyful tears.

I love when it’s just myself and ONE of my kiddos on an adventure.

Because then we can just be. He can decide what we do next and I can agree.

“Sure honey, that’s fine with me!”

So that’s what we did.

It was pure Mama bliss.

He liked it too.
